SUMMARY:Improving Workplace Safety through Mental Health Promotion
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will provide an overview of the connection betwee
 n mental health and workplace safety.\n Participants will learn about res
 ources available to support the mental well-being of their workforce\nand 
 prevent the negative outcomes of unaddressed substance use and mental heal
 th challenges\, such\nas poor job performance and productivity\, low moral
 e\, interpersonal conflict\, and more serious\noutcomes like suicide and o
 verdose.\n\nSpeakers:\nAshwinee Kulkarni\, MPH\, is the Resilient Workplac
 e Program Manager at Invest EAP Centers for\nWellbeing.  In this role\, A
 shwinee is working to develop and implement a Resilient Workplace\nCertifi
 cation program with the goal of promoting resiliency and well being at Ver
 mont workplaces.  Prior\nto joining Invest EAP\, Ashwinee was the Worksit
 e Wellness Program Administrator at the Vermont\nDepartment of Health\, de
 veloping resources and partnerships to promote workplace wellness and\nsaf
 ety. In this role\, she was also a liaison to the Board of Directors of th
 e VT Safety &amp\; Health Council.\nRachel Newton\, MNSP\, is the Overdos
 e Data to Action (OD2A) Program Manager at the Vermont\nDepartment of Heal
 th. In this role\, she oversees the daily operations of the OD2A Program\,
  including\nbudget and grant management and coordinating overdose preventi
 on and response activities in the\nstate. She holds a Master of Nutrition 
 Science and Policy and has been working in public health in\nVermont for o
 ver six years. \nNick Nichols\, MSW\, is the Suicide Prevention Program C
 oordinator at the Vermont Department of\nHealth and oversees the work of a
  Comprehensive Suicide Prevention Grant funded by the Centers for\nDisease
  Control and Prevention. Nick holds a master’s degree in social work and
  has worked to support\nmental health\, substance use prevention\, and pub
 lic health improvements in Vermont at both the\nDepartment of Mental Healt
 h and Department of Health for over 24 years.\nShannon Prescott\, CWCA\, C
 OSS\, is the Director of Risk Control of The Richards Group\, serving Busi
 ness\nInsurance clients with employment practice compliance and safety pro
 gram evaluation and\nimplementation\, helping them achieve compliance with
  OSHA\, DOT and DOL regulations. In addition\,\nshe provides First Aid/CPR
  courses and Mental Health First Aid courses. Shannon is a licensed Proper
 ty &amp\;\nCasualty Producer\, a Certified WorkComp Advisor\, a Certified 
 Occupational Safety Specialist and is an\nAuthorized OSHA Outreach Trainer
  for General Industry and Construction courses. Shannon serves on\nthe Sto
 ne Soup Café Board\, the VT Safety &amp\; Health Council\, her local Yout
 h Commission and is also an\nactive member of the Massachusetts based\, Fr
 anklin County Young Professionals\, currently serving as\nthe organization
 ’s Chairperson.
